Why do foundries need specialist copper handling?
V-V Metals buys and recycles copper scrap in nearly every industrial form -- #1 and #2 copper, bare bright and insulated wire, EDM wire, tube and bus bar cut-offs, turnings, foil, powder, oxidized red powder, spills and puckable fines.
Foundry value walks out in the residue, not the returns. Gates and risers get handled properly and then skimmings, dross and collector dust are treated as disposal cost even though a real fraction of the metal is still recoverable.
Copper is priced off COMEX, so the money is made or lost in the grading. Our buyers separate #1 from #2, pull alloyed and clad material out of the mix, and pay each fraction on its own merit instead of averaging a whole load down to the lowest grade in the container.

How the account is run
Loads are weighed on a certified scale, sampled for moisture and non-metallic attachment, then graded against ISRI specifications. You get the grade breakdown on the settlement sheet, not a single lump number.

Where does our material end up?
Unlike many scrap companies, V-V Metals does not sell purchased material to other scrap dealer houses. Everything we buy goes directly to mills, foundries or smelters, so there is one margin between your dock and the end user instead of two or three. Copper scrap from foundries moves to copper refiners and rod mills.
